The Floral Series: Oil Impasto on canvas 36 x 24. First Blush represents the beginning of my realism style using the impasto techniques practiced by Monet and Van Gogh. This painting was a gift returned from Ann. Post-Impressionist Vincent van Gogh’s sunflower paintings have always intrigued me. I became fascinated with the feel of the palette knife’s rich, thick, abstract strokes.
